Labor Day Weekend at WSPWednesday, August 28, 2013 | 11:25 AM
From Winchester Speed Park
We have been busy preparing the track and park for Labor Day weekend, The Northeast Shootout presented by Alias and SK Energy. Dave has made some changes to sections of the track for this weekend and added tractor trailer truckloads of sawdust into the course. This changes the texture of the track, helps it hold moisture, then later when it rots and mixes into the dirt it makes great loam! The facility which has bathrooms, added showers, water into the pits, wifi, an expanded playground, a new pavilion and an onsite Motorcycle shop has all the ingredients needed for racers to come in and not just race, but have a Motocross Racing Vacation. The shop will have sales, SUPER Dunlop deals, lots of VP fuel and will have KTM guru’s Brooks Hamilton and Rob Hnath along with our mechanic Paul Davis who can work on any brand! Saturday, the gates open at 9am and practice starts at 2pm. We’ll give away great prizes at riders meeting and after the track stops, we’ll serve free ice cream sundaes for everyone as the kids enjoy the inflatable bounces until the awesome fireworks show! Sunday morning Trooper Dan “Massachusetts Singing Trooper” will sing a version of the national anthem that is sure to move you before we get Moto 1 and Moto 2 underway. Supercuts hosts Supercamp by Supercuts under the Pavilion at noon for the kids and as the racing winds down, the band sets up and will have us rockin and dancing to tunes into the night! Monday morning site laps start at 8am where a long Moto 3 determines our Champions and Top 5! $50 Holeshot awards by Hillson Contractors for every class will surely get them cranking out of the gate! Then Leticia Cline, our Fabulous Motocross Model (and ya, she rides) is flying in to present Top 5 awards under the pavilion on the podium (made by our own Photog Phenom Paul Buckley). What is she presenting? Well, we have 5ft Champion Trophies and unique Event Plaques……AND Alias and SK Energy really stepped up as the Title Sponsor by awarding EVERY champion a $250 pre activated Visa gift card AND $250 Alias Gift Certificate. When Mike Grondahl (whom recently signed Southwick) approached us about the event, he really wanted to support an Amateur Motocross event here in New England where he is from, and in the sport he truly loves. But wait there’s more…..Top 5 get event gift bags FILLED with $70 worth of Loctite AND Thanks to Tucker Rocky, Motorex, Works Connection, Scott, Renthal, various Mx goodies too! Factory Connection will Crown an Iron Man Award for the Top Novice Rider and the Top Amateur Rider with….. a FREE Revalve! $1000 was added to the 100% Pro Payout Purse and with Honda, KTM and Yamaha Contingency…..this will be the MOST awarded Amateur race in the Northeast this year! Don’t Miss it! See ya at the races! info, forms and directions at www.Winchesterspeedpark.com and visit us on facebook
