. Very telling RD the best at the starts but only 4 moto wins.
.over all the Stats pretty much show RV is the Alfa dog in the class.
The stats for the 450 class this year are crazy....RV has the least amount of overalls, however he has almost double the laps led and has podiumed every week...if that doesnt spell champion I dont know what does...Looking for RV to take a few more overalls here the next few weeks boys and wrap this up!!!
Bill C - You are got that right....When it all boils down, RV is the top dog....Most folks knew that going in, now he is proving it.....
GO RV!!!
Yup BillC you are correct. I got a big LOL seeing Kasmakers name though that was good. It is also great to see the old names of back when racing was a bigger step from the non factory to the factory bikes. I hope Dowd can do it again, that sand is tough ya gotta go with the flow of the track. There were a lot a graeat names in this artcle.
LETS RACE!!!!!
and this video rocks, thanks KillaMoto!!

GO RV AND TEAM GINGER!
BillC: 89 was Larry not Jeff ward and it was a Honda. it's an Ummm Yes.
In 76 Rick Granville from Somers Ct. (RIP) won the 500cc support class (370 Bultaco) beating Chuck Sun in the process. Chuck was faster that day, but that day Ricky got good starts and rode consistantly. He was usually kind of wild, the Magoo of New England.
When Jeff Ward was on minis he rode a Honda XR-75...LOL
1989 was Larry Ward and it also was his first win. So, he should be in the first time winners list too. His mechanic, also got his first win that day. It was Rick Zielfelder (aka Ziggy!) Yes, the same Ziggy who now owns Factory Connection. Small sport we live in.
Is it just a coincidence that your screen name is the same as Larry's nick name?
RC's a SPODE in da sand! haha B!TCHES
Don't forget the ancient Hoboken tribe from Unadilla. They went to Southwick also because believe it or not those particular granules of sand were a tradeable commodity back then. The sand was more abrasive than that which was found further west. It was excellent for finishing work on pottery.
Man looking at those stats RC really is the GOAT.
RC 2000-07 DAMN!!!!!!
My prediction is that Bagget will walk away from Southwick as the new points leader.. And tonewall, ya could say RC 99-07. Thats the difference between him and Everts right there, RC was way more consistant.
Gentlemen it would seem your stats for "The Wick" are missing a very important fact ! There is only one rider that ever beat "The GOAT at Southwick. And the winner is "The Junkyard Dog" in 1998 in what used to be the 125 class. If memory serves me correctly there was another NESC legend that won that same day riding a YZ-400F. But it was a mud race so I guess it was in there favor that day ! !
@Dave A. so Dowd beat the GOAT, so what, you had a Vet who just won that race in the 250/450 class the year before, drops down to the beginner class and beats a 17 year old RC at his home track, real big accomplishment, can you say "CHERRY PICKER"
Cherry picker what is a cherry picker???? I think it is like a jealous persdon that is upset cause got beat like I did when the promoters did not check over 30vet pro? Oh well they beat me but then I beat them LOL..... I dont just call it cheating I call it stealing also!
Dowd is the man and you call him a Cherry picker. maybe your just jealous cause you are still a virgin????
Can't say Cherry picker but I can say a MAN who did what his boss asked him to do, Ride the 125 class even though he would have rather not have but it was his JOB.
That was back when RC couldn't ride mud though (and I saw him ride mud that year at Foxhill, and got his extremly muddy Axo race gear to prove it, although its nice an clean now) lol Ya can't take anything away from Dowdy mind, he's a real man an I hope he nails a top 10 today.
The phrase you are looking for is"Sandbagger" kinda funny since we are talking about Southwick!!! And there is no such thing once you hold an AMA Pro license. The fact still remains that JYD is the ONLY rider to beat RC at "THE WICK" !!!!!!!!!! The story goes like this. In 1997 John Dowd was a vet rider in Pro motocross, and he was the #2 250 rider when that season concluded. In 1998 Team Yamaha made a corporate decision to have John ride the 125 class because they were on the forefront of the 4-stroke revolution. They had Doug Henry riding the new YZ-400,and they wanted that machine to hold the # 1 spot at seasons end. They also knew that Dowdy would give it his all against RC. Pretty good move, Doug won the championship, and we all ride 4-strokes now. Dowd was Ricky's main competition, and won a few events. But the record book shows ONLY 1 rider to win at Southwick against "THE GOAT"!! Why not just give Dowd credit Cause thats not the only stat he holds. Pay attention !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
