Trainer Aldon Baker has had a busy summer globetrotting the World and making sure his guys are in the best shape possible to win races. We all know how he transformed Ricky Carmichael into a winning machine and now that James Stewart is under Aldon's care, he is reaching that same winning level. Aldon has it down to a science when it comes to prepping his guys and the foundation of that training is based on heart rates. Not so long ago only world-class athletes wore those weird black chest straps. Today, heart rate monitors are everywhere and are becoming a required piece of training equipment. In this article, Aldon talks about the principles of heart rate training and how he uses them to improve performance, avoid over-training and track the fitness of all his athletes.
