New Carhartt KTM Off-Road TeamThursday, February 1, 2007 | 6:55 AM
SALINE, MI (February 1, 2007) - Heimjoint Racing, LLC is pleased to announce the formation of a unique team poised to compete at the highest levels of off-road motorcycle racing in the US. Organized to contest the AMA/ FMF National Enduro Series and AMA Grand National Cross Country series, Carhartt KTM team riders Stephen Edmondson, Chris Gallt, and Jordan Mapes are set to assault the off-road world starting this weekend at the first National Enduro of the year down in Marshall, Texas. This grass roots effort has reached out to the sponsor community and garnered unparalleled support for a first year effort.
"We're pleased that Carhartt workwear has expressed an interest in our program and look forward to the possibility of a long lasting relationship with them. The Carhartt name is synonymous with quality and durability, and we couldn't ask for a better partner. I think it's a great fit." comments team Owner/ Manager Marc Heim. Through the assistance of Ford Motor Company, the all-new 2008 Ford F-Series Super Duty pickup will help to pull the team's race prepped KTM's to the races. Ford will assist with the use of different trucks for each event, demonstrating the wide variety of models, features, options, and capabilities of the Super Duty brand to the Enduro and GNCC community.
The team is committed to excellence and all sponsor partners reflect that mentality. For instance, the "ready to race" KTM's the riders will be piloting will be outfitted with FMF Racing exhaust systems, Enduro Engineering handguards and components, Motul lubricants, dressed in PG graphics, and shod with Maxxis tires. The riders themselves will benefit from the protection of KTM Hard Equipment gear, Scorpion helmets, Scott goggles, and Sidi boots, all offering the greatest protection and rider safety. To aid the riders in their training efforts and ensuring they get to the finish line, Hammer Nutrition supplements offer the broadest line of nutritional supplementation for the endurance athlete and Hammer Gel and HEED will help them take their athletic performance to another level.
The 2007 National Enduro #2. In 2006, Stephen narrowly missed his first National Championship in the AMA/ FMF National Enduro Series by the slimmest of margins, and seeks to take the number one spot in 2007. A fierce competitor on the bike, Stephen also competes successfully in hare scrambles and local events, and would like to acknowledge the support he receives from Piedmont Motorsports in Virginia, and FLEXX bars.
For the past six years Chris has focused primarily on National Hare Scrambles and the GNCC series while earning seven 'A' class national championship titles. For the 2007 season Chris' goals are to maintain his top 20 GNCC overall standing in the series, and win a class championship in the AMA/ FMF National Enduro Series. Chris also receives additional support from Lansing Cycle in Michigan.
Jordan is an emerging talent in the off-road racing world. As the youngest rider on the team, Jordan embodies the hard work that this developmental program emphasizes and represents the next generation of off-road racer. Jordan aims to challenge for overall class wins and looks forward to the challenge of GNCC and Enduro racing in 2007 and would like to thank Linwood Cycle Sales for their support.
Off-road racing is an experience. The places, the people, the scenery. With unique locations and race formats, the beauty of the sport is in it's variety, but at the center, never changing, is the people. The people are there each week because they love motorcycles, the outdoors, and racing. That passion runs deep and we intend to share our passion and experiences via our team blog at raceink.blogspot.com. Check in for rider's race reports and other information about the team and the sport we love. We feel very fortunate to be a part of the off-road racing community and look forward to a successful 2007 racing season.
